9 Day old Alexandra from Hinchley Wood, Esher

Alex’ mummy only contacted me over the weekend. It was one of those things really, booking a newborn photographer has been on the “to do” list for many months but as a mum of two life is just busy.

Luckily it was my eldest daughter’s first week at school and with my little one in preschool I was free to photograph Alex on Monday. At 9 days old it was the perfect time to do a newborn shoot. He arrived asleep and after a good feed he continued to sleep in my lovely owls nest.

Unless you are a photographer yourself you wouldn’t know that each newborn pose you see requires a lot of patience. Not only does the newborn need to be calmed and positioned so that she is comfortable but it’s also about the little things, slight positioning of the head, the hands, feet. I check everything to make sure the end-result is stunning!

Alex’ mum decided to come to the photoshoot on her own. I see that quite a lot with 3rd or 4th time mums. With so many children, you just don’t get the time with your newborn baby so many decide to come just with the baby and do a family shoot at 3-month when the little one is a bit sturdier as well. The kids had given baby Alexandra some soft toys, so of course they had to feature in some of the photographs too.

Since the two older children were boys, we decided to use a bit of colour in the newborn photographs for Alex. Purple is often a favourite with those that don’t want the photographs to be overly girlie.

And she did the tushy up pose very well.

And sometimes newborn babies do something so cute, I just have to take a photo of it. Like this little girl who just loved having her hands near her face.

Mum of course looked fabulous and thrilled to finally hold her baby girl.

And after all that hard work, Alexandra got a bit tired. No wonder of course at only 9 days old! No rest for the new mum of three though who now needed to go and pick up her other children.

It has been great meeting you and I look forward to photographing the whole family in a few months.

If you would like to have beautiful photos taken of you and your newborn, get in touch to book your newborn session and view my newborn gallery for some more examples of my newborn photography. Or if you are pregnant or just had a baby why not join my photography for parents workshop to learn how to take your own beautiful photos of your newborn baby.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Tamara
